Latest News

Thank you for your support during the month of May.

In order for us to continue to provide you with excellent service, please do not hesitate to contact us with questions or suggestions. For some businesses, after the fast-paced goings on of the first few months of the year, things start to settle into a rhythm as the winter months allow us to regroup and enjoy the fruits of our hard work.

To date, for 2010 we have translated more than 2 million words into 39 languages for a total of 90 clients.

Web-lingo would like to take this opportunity to take you through some of the processes involved in the translation and proofreading stages. While some of these will be repeated, they are important steps in the business.

Proofreading

We usually quote separately for the translation to be proofread by a second linguist.

Although we maintain a high professional standard at all times, all our translators are accredited and experienced. We always recommend proofreading, editing and/or validation by one or more independent translators so as to guarantee accuracy.

We always use independent translators for proofreading and, although this incurs extra costs, it is for your benefit.

Should you wish to proofread the translations yourself, it is very important that you state this for each separate request on your order.

Translation Timing

Translation and proofreading take careful consideration and planning in terms of timing and deadlines. For example, for South African languages (excluding English and Afrikaans) and depending on subject matter, it can take up to a day to translate between 800 and 1,000 words. Most international languages, translators can handle an average of up to 2,500 to 4000 words per day.

Translating Websites

In order for Web-lingo to translate your website, you need to supply the material to be translated in HTML, any MS Office programme, or in text format. This will allow us to make effective use of our existing glossaries and terminology management tools, leverage existing translations to reduce the time and cost, guarantee terminology consistency and accuracy and avoid charging you for repetitions.

Client Wish-List

Please let us know what information you require regarding translation work. We are in the process of redesigning our quotation system and would appreciate your suggestions regarding the layout and how you, as our client, would like to receive quotations.

Web-lingo Quality Management Process

Quality is our priority! Our linguists undergo initial testing and constant re-evaluation. All our efforts are targeted to assuring the highest possible quality.

Linguists

  • All translators are mother-tongue speakers, usually based in the country where the material will be used. This ensures that the material is also suitably 'localised'.
  • Web-lingo translators are accredited professionals with many years of experience in the industry.
  • Web-lingo ensures that all new linguists are tried and tested in their specific area of specialisation before adding them to our resource database.
  • Web-lingo ensures the highest quality translations from pre-approved specialist teams of translators.

Confidentiality

  • Since we often deal with sensitive, confidential and pre-released material during the translation process, our translators are bound by non-disclosure agreements. Every precaution is taken to keep your data safe and secure.

In order to help us improve on our service delivery, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or our general manager, Sonette Hill with any feedback regarding Web-lingo translation quality, project management or administrative services.

We value your business and thank you for time and effort.
